What you can say, what needs proof, and what to drop

On 6 October 2026 the NMC put out new rules on how Doctors, Clinics and Hospitals can advertise. These rules put most of what you post into three groups. Green is safe to say. Amber is allowed only if you can prove it or say it carefully. Red should be taken out. The checker marks your post in the same three colours.

Green.. safe to say

Plain facts about your Clinic or Hospital. Write them simply, without praise.

  • Your OPD timings, address, phone number and how to book an appointment
  • Your fees, written as a simple fact. For example, "Consultation fee: Rs 800"
  • Facts like NABH accreditation, or cashless treatment with insurance companies
  • On every online post, the Doctor's name, degree and registration number. For example, "Dr [Name], MBBS, MS, Reg. No. [number]"
  • Simple announcements. A new Doctor has joined, you have moved to a new address, the Doctor is on leave or is back from leave
  • Health awareness content in your own name, as long as it does not sell your services
  • Festival greetings like "Shubh Deepawali", with no offer added to them
  • Free treatment under a government scheme like Ayushman Bharat, CGHS or a State scheme

From the NMC notice: clauses 3.2, 5.1, 7.3, 8.2, 8.3 (i), 9.1

Amber.. only if you can prove it

These are not banned outright. But you need proof ready, or you need to change how you say it.

  • Awards and rankings. Say who gave the award, how it was decided, and the year
  • Words like "state-of-the-art", "world-class" or "most advanced". Use them only if you can prove them
  • Lines that push people to hurry, like "Book now", "Call today" or "Only a few slots left"
  • Lines that scare people, like "Don't ignore it, it could be fatal"
  • Anything made with AI. You must clearly say that it was made with AI

From the NMC notice: clauses 7.2, 8.1 (i), 8.1 (ix), 8.3 (ii)

Red.. take it out

The rules do not allow these in your advertising. Remove them from the post.

  • Saying you are the best. "Sabse best", "No.1", "Top Surgeon in the city"
  • Promising a result. "100% safe", "Guaranteed", "Pakka ilaaj", "जड़ से खत्म"
  • Promising no pain or no risk. "Painless", "Bina dard", "No side effects"
  • Discounts and free offers. "Diwali offer", "25% chhoot", "Free camp", "मुफ्त जांच"
  • Numbers that show off, like "5,000+ happy Patients", or your success rates
  • Patient videos, Patient reviews, before-and-after photos, and celebrity Patients
  • Any commission or payment for sending you Patients

From the NMC notice: clause 3.2 Explanation V, and clauses 8.1 (ii) to (xii)

Straight answers

Hindi ya Hinglish mein likha hai. Chalega?

Haan. It reads English, Hindi in Devanagari, and Hinglish such as "pakka ilaaj", "sabse best" or "chhoot ke saath", including common spelling variations. Safer lines are offered in the same language as the line you wrote.

My agency makes my posts. Is that their problem?

No. The notice says using an agency, a platform or an influencer does not take the responsibility away from the Doctor or the Hospital (clause 4.4). Share this page with your agency and ask them to run every post through it before it reaches you.

If nothing comes up red, am I safe?

Not automatically. The checker reads words and phrases against the notice. It cannot see your pictures, it cannot tell whether a claim is true, and it is not legal advice or an NMC approval. You stay responsible for what goes out. For a large campaign, have a lawyer read the final version.

Who made this, and is it from the NMC?

It was built by Doctor of Laxmi from the published NMC notice R-13014/01/2024-Ethics of 6 October 2026. It is independent. It is not connected to, or approved by, the National Medical Commission, and the official notice is the final word.

Will anyone else see what I paste?

No one outside Doctor of Laxmi. It is checked on our own server and stored with your details for 90 days so we can help if you write to us. After that the text is deleted and only anonymous counts remain. You can ask for your data to be erased at any time. Detail in the Privacy Policy.

I am a Dentist, Physiotherapist or AYUSH practitioner.

Use it. The notice is written for NMC-registered Doctors and medical institutions, so your result is marked as good-practice guidance. Your own council's code governs your advertising.

How many checks can I run?

Up to 30 posts and 5 websites a day, free.
